However I thought I would share the following problem with setting up role centers and the associated solution that I found.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Problem description:\u00a0<\/strong>After installing role centers on AX2012 RTM CU 3 with SQL Server 2012 the following error is displayed <em>&#8220;An attempt has been made to use a data extension &#8216;AXADOMD&#8217; that is either not registered for this report server or is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. (rsDataExtensionNotFound)&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-19_1410.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-373 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-19_1410.png\" alt=\"2015-08-19_1410\" width=\"726\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-19_1410.png 726w, http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-19_1410-300x82.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Event log on the SSRS machine says the following:\u00a0<em>Role Centers \/ Analysis Services: Report Server (AX) cannot load the AXADOMD extension.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Problem resolution \/ investigation:\u00a0<\/strong>After chasing my tail on this one for quite a while (including multiple re-installation etc)\u00a0trying to figure out why the &#8220;AXADOMD&#8221; SSRS datasource extension was not installed I discovered that the problem did not lie with &#8220;AXADOMD&#8221; being missing but rather it might be having issues when it was loading.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the SSRS log files (<em>C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server\\MSRS11.AX\\Reporting Services\\LogFiles<\/em>) I discovered the following message:<\/p>\n<p><em>ERROR: Exception caught instantiating AXADOMD report server extension: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. &#8212;&gt; System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly &#8216;Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91&#8217; or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>File name: &#8216;Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91&#8217;<\/em><br \/>\n<em> at Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Reports.AxAdomdConnection..ctor()<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This lead me to think something might be wrong with the\u00a0<em>Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient\u00a0<\/em>itself despite the AX installation validation showing up that it was installed already.<\/p>\n<p>Paying a quick visit to C:\\Windows\\Assembly revealed that only AdomdClient version 11.0.0.0 was installed<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1433.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-374\" src=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1433.png\" alt=\"2015-08-20_1433\" width=\"599\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1433.png 599w, http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1433-300x153.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The simple solution to this issue was to install the 10.0.0.0 client from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-za\/download\/details.aspx?id=23089\">http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-za\/download\/details.aspx?id=23089<\/a>\u00a0after which SSRS no longer complained.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1431.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-375\" src=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1431.png\" alt=\"2015-08-20_1431\" width=\"600\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1431.png 600w, http:\/\/www.exploreax.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/2015-08-20_1431-300x128.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I hope this saves somebody some of the hassle and time that I have spent on figuring this one out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let me say at the outset that I am very new to Dynamics AX role centers and analysis services and really have a lot to learn.
